Pic For The Day - The Sahara
Monday, June 7, 2010 at 2:41AM
There is much to tell - stories of sunburned, peeling skin, the wincing intimacy of a traditional hamam, delicious dinners shared with wonderful people. For now, here are pictures of our time in the Sahara. The dark-haired beauty is our friend Karen, who we hooked up with in Rome. She decided to come to Morocco with us, and it has turned out to be the perfect place for us to catch up on each others lives.

No freakin' way!
I'm speechless.
More speechlessness. Unfreakin'real.
How very, very cool! I'm envious - what an adventure! A memory for a lifetime!!! My friend Jens (from Freiburg, whom you never got to meet, although he would have loved to meet you guys) just went on a camel ride safari for 2 weeks in Tunesia. He said it was absolutely magical and very hard to return to 'real' life and work afterwards. It was a dream of his... now you are living it. It looks like it must instill this incredible sense of absolute freedom, no?
Btw, we had our baby girl on April 2nd! Hope you'll get to meet her when you return to this neck of the woods.
Sorry for having been out of touch. Having a baby kinda keeps you occupied. But I've still read every post and loved every one of them.
Hugs,
Babette
What a wonderful adventure! I bet you got a good deal on the jewlery........your negoation skill are legend. The camel ride looks great but I am really feeling for all of you "chalk" people in the desert. I hope the burns were not too bad ............ I know how bad you can burn. (I would be krispy)
The tent is unique..........how does it feel to play the part of a Berber tribesman?
All my love.................7
Those colors are amazing! Humming with vibrancy and look yummy enough to eat. I wanna see more pics!!!
The desert looks beautiful and I love the colorful tent. I bet the night sky is unreal. Thanks for sharing. I am sorry I missed Bob in LA.. Maybe next time.

Hi Brenna & Bob,
I have been browsing occasionally through your site but I must admit that I have been more so during your trip in Morocco. I am so happy for that dark haired beauty that she gets to spend quality time with such a nice family. In the Sahara of all places.
I know that you are going from here to Cuzco, Peru. I have been there last year and enjoyed it tremendously. Can't wait to go back. I am sure that you will find all of the interesting spots but if you want some tips, I'll be happy to provide some.
Take care and enjoy.

EXT: DAY: Middle of ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE: Some nomadic tribesmen erect a rustic stick frame. Draping the frame with a caravan load of carpets, they create a sanctuary from the relentless bombardment of sunshine. We are not privy to the inner sanctum. One can only imagine the ancient lifestyle. The men reclining, playing backgammon. The women preparing flat breads just as the myriad generations before them. . . . Then the modern day medicine-man pops a couple solar panels on the roof ... and, Hey! . . . He got the Nintendo working!!
What an outstanding photo!
