Walking Paris
Yesterday was our first full day in Paris. We walked all day long. We walked down our local market street, the oldest one in Paris, then along the Seine to tour Notre Dame and Saint Chapelle. We passed the D'Orsay, the Louvre, the Musee de l'Armee. We got so thoroughly lost that at one point we realized we'd stumbled on to Rue Cler. (We didn't have Betty to give us directions.) We stopped for lunch, and again for cups of chocolate and eclairs. We rummaged through vintage shops and butcher shops. We ended the day at the Eiffel Tower at sunset. We've got a ton of pictures to share, mostly iconic Parisian images that everyone comes home with.
Here's what the two of us will remember most about the day:

Paris is a wonderful magical city I have never been in the winter, only spring and summer.
My favorite part of the city is all the crowded funky shopes and restaurents on the West Bank.
Brenna, you and Ella look wonderful walking together.
Ella the hat is perfect for you and when did you get sooo tall?
Post more pictures, do the tourist thing ,who cares...........I just want to see more of all of you.

Hey Kim - SO good to meet you too! I think we're of the same tribe. Hope to see you in Edinburgh - or Morocco or Spain or Italy...

The kids look like they are best friends. That is beautiful.
And, you get to see them discover the world.

My favorites mental pictures of my kids are from looking up and unexpectedly seeing them from a distance, they doing nothing extraordinary, just being. When we're so closely involved with each other in our daily lives, seemingly moment to moment, movement to movement, emotion to emotion, it can be blindingly rewarding to be reminded of them as separate and good, special just in the way they walk and carry themselves. Going for a tissue now, aw heck, who am I kidding, I just wiped my nose with my sleeve.
Beautiful! It just makes me miss my sweet sister even more!
