All Together Now (all together now)
Hey everybody. This is a dual post of sorts – it’s on our blog and the facebook group: It's possible the Redpaths are crazy...wanna' live vicariously?
This journey of ours has never really been about traveling for a year. The trip is an exciting vehicle we’ve chosen, but in the bigger picture it’s about changing our lives – granted, we've picked an extreme way to go about it. We are fortunate enough, and smart enough, to have been saving for a rainy day for 20 years. We have decided that this is the rain we’ve been saving for. Some will think we’re foolish for not sitting still, and holding on to every penny we have, and they may prove to be right. But maybe now is the time for a little unconventional thinking, the time to seek out a new way of life as the economy evolves into whatever comes next for all of us.
Our intention is to spend this year searching for people who are taking control of their lives in these uncertain times. We’ll be bringing you people from all over the world who are finding new opportunity during a time when conventional wisdom tells us to hunker down and sit still. People with enough vision to turn a bad situation into a propelling force that might not have existed for them before all hell broke loose.
A lot of the success of our venture depends on reaching people interested in following this interactive experiment in taking control of our lives, and sharing how they are taking control of their own lives as well. In this vein -- we have a goal. We leave on June 22, and by that date we would like to have 10,000 members on Facebook and readers of our website. It's a huge goal, and we need your help. Tell your friends, and tell them to tell their friends. Let's start a world-wide dialogue of people thinking differently, choosing new paths, looking for opportunity in this messy time. It’s big. But in our opinion, there has never been a better time to start thinking and acting differently than right now.

Homeless, or Nomadic? You be the judge!
I can soooo envision Brenna (with family) in a brightly painted gypsy cart with those vintage curtains!
Louis L'Amour defines his terms thus:
Hobo - traveling man looking for work
Tramp - traveling man avoiding work
Bum - man living locally avoiding work
Journey on!
Aloha,

Don't you think this is just a next logical step? Not necessarily THE next logical step, but A logical step for you all. It's not like you have listened to what everybody does anyway. You have home schooled, gone to UU, had your own super cool style of dressing, so why use conventional wisdom about what to do when life is not right AND coincidentally the economy tanks?
Y'all are going to follow your own path. Good for you. Good for everybody, as nothing would ever change if there weren't folks leading the way in various directions, opening up new paths, giving ideas and options to other people. And if this one doesn't work, you will find another, better one!
And you have made it easy for us all to watch and see if this might be a good path for us too!
Thanks.

Bonjour from a fellow Squarespace user (that's how I found you),
What a great story and a fun family!
I'd love to show you around Paris. Ping me when you're in town!

Wow, I did something like this when I was 24 and not sure what I was going to do with my life when I realized journalism wasn't for me. I moved to Korea and stayed 5 years in Asia teaching English! This is a very brave step you're taking, but I think this will all work out for you in the end! You might want to see if you can get an online TESOL certificate if you're looking to bring in some extra money on your journey. Couldn't hurt, might help! :)
Sounds like a wonderful adventure. I applaud your courage. I can't wait to hear your stories.

I am absolutely in AWE of you & your families decision. Best of luck to all 4 of you and I will be following closely to see how it all turns out.
I admire your imagination and courage. I have a feeling you won't regret a minute of this decision and will always look back on it fondly. Who knows, maybe you'll never have a chance to look back on it because you won't go back!
Best wishes,
Keith
Hi Dear Ones.
Thanks for doing what others fear to do. Go for it. The people who make a difference in the world are those who do what every body else says it can`t work. You are doing the right thing. Keep up some check up mechanism as you move on.
I can`t wait to hear your amazing stories at the end of all.
