A List Of Things We Miss

We've been gone just over 3 months now and of course we miss our friends and family, but there are also some other pretty specific things we find ourselves particularly pining for. Here are our lists in no particular order...

Brenna's List:

  • Homeschool Park Day
  • My Bookclub
  • Trader Joe's
  • Buying groceries on Sundays
  • Looping
  • Breaking Bad
  • My Le Creuset dutch oven
  • California wine (I feel guilty when I buy it in Europe)
  • Our friend Gerry's BBQ
  • Sephora
  • All Things Considered on NPR
  • Ben the babysitter
  • Unitarian Universalist Church of Studio City
  • Little Motorboat

Owen's List:

  • Homeschool park day
  • In-N-Out Burger
  • Always having a good internet connection
  • Speaking the same language as everyone around me
  • Not having to go to the grocery store every other day
  • Little Motorboat
  • Ben the babysitter

Eleanor's List:

  • Cheez-Its
  • My soft satin pillow
  • Trader Joe's
  • Seeing the coyotes walking down the street in Glendale, California
  • Our old house
  • The E.R. Christmas parties
  • Target (the store)
  • Homeschool park day
  • Mambo's (Cuban restaurant in Glendale, CA)
  • Good Mexican food
  • Ben the babysitter
  • Little Motorboat

Bob's List:

  • Trader Joes
  • M&M's (they-re just not the same in Europe)
  • Hauling out the table saw and starting a big month-long home-improvement project
  • My drive to work - alone
  • Ben the babysitter
  • Porto's (Cuban deli in Glendale)
  • Driving to Malibu for the day
  • Getting to have a feeling of superiority when I bring my own bags to the grocery store
  • The US Dollar
  • Chocolate Skittles form the vending machine at work
  • Little Motorboat

Mmmh, after 12 years living here in the US, what I miss:
- OrganicFarmersmarket of Amsterdam, where I knew about half the people and where the produce is, well no market here can beat it....
- a casual conversation on the road with someone you don't know, happens all the time, because everyone is walking.
- getting a ticket and sit in the train for half an hour and step out right at the ocean...
Well, I'm not listing everything, but what I miss the most are my friends - may be you guys are in a kind of travel exhaustion, having enough of moving and no place where you're really at home right now... find a nice, cozy place where you can hang out a little longer. Some time for digestion.

Sorry Bob, but your favorite vending machine has gone missing. They're remodeling that entrance to be more professional! Owen, I know what you mean about missing a good internet connection. That happens every time we go to my mother-in-law's house. It works......... sometimes!!!!

I miss the ER Christmas party also, forever. Bob, I recorded some video interviews but forgot my earphones and the plug wasn't seated all the time.

I can definately understand your missing the US dollar Bob. I came home from Germany, checked my bank account and almost had a heart attack! This artist does not do math well , especially when it is an exchange rate.
Huray for Trader Joe's!

I would be happy to loan you a Le Creuset Dutch Oven for the duration of your stay in Scotland, if it would help :)
