Venice! What more is there to say? Well... the pasta is for shame! The prosecco is a dream. The vaporetto attendants are not to be trifled with. The city is magic. Crowded, crumbling magic. Go get lost there. We did. Several times a day. Here are some pics:
Grand Canal in Venice. First day there.
Brenna gives the family a Rock Steves Walking tour of St Mark's square. Don't the children look riveted!?!
Bob liked this house.
Looking for fishies
This is our apartment for the week.

Too late and may be Owen has read it already anyway: "The Thieflord" by Cornelia Funke is THE book to read being in Venice, but who knows may be not too late to invigorate all the impressions that slumber still right underneath the surface...Barbara
WOW.... just makes me wish I was there with my (almost) 12 year old... I'm going to be 54 on Monday and took my first trip to Europe in June...went to Geneva and South of France....I'll be saving every available extra penny to get my son back over there as soon as possible....no better education...I applaud what you and your family are doing...it is a priceless gift!!!!!
Wow three windows for one apartment. I stayed in a hotel room accessible through several winding staircases about the size of an editing room including the bath with a shower which was a corner with a plastic curtain.
Hey, the Redpaths tour Europe through the windows of its cities! The Grand Canal shot looks like one of those centuries old citiscapes of Venice...until you notice the motorboat front and center!
And I'm waiting to hear...did the children find any fish and are they allowed to fish for their supper?
What glorious memories you're all storing up!
I will always regret that I did not "say to h...with my job", and go to Venace with all of you. The pictures are beautiful, and I can always dream. Oh, the sadness of all that beautiful architecture and art sinking into the sea.

Great Photos! You guys are all so cute. And ... Brenna ... True to normal form ... I am wearing the EXACT outfit you have on today (minus the hat). We are still connected ... even through the miles. : )
Love U all ... Miss U All ... KEEP IT COMIN'!
Fantastic city... it's interesting to imagine how they lived let's say 500 years ago in Venice. The entire place looks just too beautiful to be true.
