What Matters Now: A Free eBook from Seth Godin and Many More!

When Brenna and I decided to do this, whatever-it-is-we're-doing-now journey, the theme, 'What Matters Now' pretty much summed it all up for us. So, I'm not sure how a blog post that we subscribe to ended up getting snatched by our spam filter, but I'm glad I checked before I deleted everything.

We've both been reading Seth Godin's work for years now. He's forward looking and a clear thinker with an amazing ability to

Robin?

Bob and I are in the kitchen. I am cooking, and he is reading blogs comments on our website, and, incidentally, eating some rather strange Thai Sensation flavored potato chips:

"Who is this Robin person? Do you know a Robin?" he asks me. (Names have been changed to make us seem less lame.)

"Robin. I don't think we know her," I say. "Or him," I add helpfully. "What'd they say?"

"Robin... Robin..." He's now clicking through the comment left by Robin to the info page to see if he can't suss this person out a little bit.  "There's no last name and no email."  Bob is like a dog with a bone when it comes to Website Statistics.

"I don't think we know her," I say again. "And stop trying to find it out, cause I like thinking there are people reading our blog who aren't obligated by blood to do so. And if you do figure out who it is don't tell me."

Bob looks up at me blandly. "Disillusions of importance kick knowledge's ass every time," he says.

Damn Straight!

BYOB to Demijohn

If you were to judge us based on our words and actions and, dammit, even the photographic evidence on our blog lately, you might think we're on the Boozy World Tour 2009. And, so as not to disappoint, I found another really unique and interesting alcohol-y place to visit today. A while ago I saw the website for an Edinburgh store called Demijohn, and so yesterday when Brenna said, "Hey let's go to Edinburgh tomorrow" I said, "Yeah sure, I hear there's a nice little

Lipstick

I dyed my hair again the other day, and decided to go even a litle bit darker brown than before. I'm really digging the brown, apart from the fact that when my blond roots grow back I look seriously grey, and I'm just vain enough to have to keep myself from remarking to the grocery clerk in an offhand way "I certainly need a touch up - don't I! My goodness this blond is hard to keep up with! I'm only glad I'm not going grey!!"

Is that a MINCE pie that's she's holding???But aside from that bit of vanity I love Brenna Brunette. I feel much less conspicuous, and I can wear anything I want and not feel like I'm screaming too loudly in a visual way.

There is an unexpected result

Brenna's In The Kitchen With The Grand Marnier And Oban

I can't tell you how much fun I'm having eating new-to-me Scottish (and British) food these days. I've tried about every meat-encased-in-pastry item in our local bakery, which are all called pies, no matter what shape or size they are. I've tried (and loved) Stovies (a mush of mashed potatoes and corned beef hash mounded on a plate), Coronation Chicken (created for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953!), and toasties (remember that George Forman sandwich press in the back of your mother's kitchen cabinet? Put coronation chicken on white bread and Press it Baby)!

Now Christmas is here! That means Christmas foods! Time to pour alcohol all over everything! Pour it in the whipped cream. Pour it in the Christmas Cake, and the Christmas pudding too! Add it to the Trifle - all three layers!

Pie not made, nor photo taken, by Brenna. IStock Photo thanks you.I won't be making
