SAVE THE HAIRY- EARED DWARF LEMURS!!!!! :(
Monday, November 24, 2008 at 11:35AM Hi, Im Owen (a 10 year old) and I feel strongly about how people keep on slicing and dicing trees and killing the animals that depend on them. 
So this is just a blog talking about one of my very favorite rain forest animals: Hairy-Eared Dwarf Lemurs, Yey! This is how the status of these animals has been going in the past: They went from rare, to endangered, to critically endangered, and then back to endangered. They are so small that people thought they were extinct until 1966, when they were re-discovered with the help of a local tribe. There are still only 100 - 1000 of them left.
They have a greysh-brown body, with a greyish-white tummy, and a reddish-brown tail. Each Lemur is around 30 cm (1 foot) long, and weighs about 3 to 3.6 oz. They are one of the smallest primates in the world, and the only member of the allocebus family. They're also nocturnal. Here's a Hairy-Eare Dwarf Lemur on a youtube link. The rainforest habitats of beautiful but vulnerable creatures must of course be protected, which is why I've bought some xeco products from the links you provided (i have a nine-year-old cousin who also likes card games).
I think we have a solemn obligation to protect the diversity of species on our planet, especially the primate species on the Prosimian line, which are often overlooked.

Im doing a research report on the hairy eared dwarf lemur and i was wondering if you have any more info on them?
also i was wondering if you have any info about their protection, for instance what is being done to protect them and their habitats and are there any animal acts or somthing of that sort on the hairy eared dwarf lemur?

The tiny hairy-eared dwarf lemur is one of the rarest and smallest species of lemur It can weight 75-98 g, its tail can grow to be
150-195 mm, and its entire body can grow to be125-145 mm. (p.s its tail can grow to be longer than its body.)
The hairy-eared dwarf lemur is primate from Madagascar. Its not known what the
hairy-eared dwarf lemur eats but if I had to guess I would say some kind of grub. They sleep in holes in trees and occasionally share
them with white-tailed tree rats and They are known to live from fifteen to nineteen years.
The hairy-eared dwarf lemur was discovered in 1875 byAlbert Gunther and was thought to be extinted for 114 years until it was
re-discovered in 1989. until it was rediscovered the only ones of the speeches known where fossils. it is estimated that there are only
100-600 hairy-eared dwarf lemurs left on the planet .

hey i really think what your doing is great.I have done something similar in my neighborhood.I also think it is wrong on what the people do to these animals.Did you know part of the reason they are endangered is because other local people trap them and eat them.They also destroy their homes on a protected area.

Owen i love what your doing. Most people are to busy in life to notice and apperciate the small things. I just wanted to pop in and ask if u knew any info on owning one of these lemurs as a pet. Is it possible and if so how. Me and my wife are very interested cuz we have a son due in 5 weeks and lookin for something cute for him. Its ok if not possible just wanted to ask.
